Lebanese · Maida Vale
Chelo brings modern Persian home-cooking to a cosy Maida Vale corner, where regulars pack the four-table dining room and spill onto the heated, covered patio. The menu rotates but keeps crowd favourites like tahchin (crispy saffron rice with chicken), kebab torsh (marinated in walnuts and pomegranate), and juicy joojeh kabab. "One of the finest Persian kebabs, not easily found in Persian restaurants in London," one parent notes of the torsh. Highchairs are available, and buggies fit better outside where the tarp keeps rain off and heaters run year-round. Portions suit kids, plates are small but shareable, and one parent praises the attentive service from owner Erfan. The bal-e morgh wings and mirza ghasemi aubergine dip make gentle starters for cautious eaters. Finish with Persian chai nabat and let the little ones run to the nearby ice cream shop—it's the summer ritual families come back for.
