Marilucia is a family-run Sardinian spot on Wood Street where owner Massimo (Max) and his team turn out proper thin-crust pizzas from the wood-fired oven and homemade pasta that locals come back for. The Boscaiola pizza and tagliatelle with meatballs get special mention, as does the Funghi Cocotte starter—a tomato mushroom dip with garlic bread. One mum raved about her daughter's birthday party here: "Max hosted a fabulous birthday party... The kids were helped to create their own pizzas and watch them cook in the open wood fired stove, followed by icecream and birthday cake." Highchairs, buggy access, and a few outdoor tables are available, and portions are generous—regulars say they rarely finish a whole pizza. The tiramisu is a regular sign-off for those with room. A relaxed neighbourhood Italian where teenage boys and toddlers alike clean their plates, and a two-course meal for two comes in under £40.
