Panda Cafe in Leytonstone serves handmade dim sum that has locals crossing London with babies in tow. The kitchen works in full view, turning out freshly made dumplings, buns and mains. Families come back for the steamed prawn and chive dumplings, the signature pan-fried dumplings (particularly the fish and chive), and the Shanghai pork buns. The curry chicken and lamb-carrot dumplings are worth trying too. "We dine here at least 3 times a month," writes one parent. The double-cooked pork and Chinese broccoli with garlic are popular choices, as are the coconut buns for pudding. It's cash only, but the owner is happy to provide bank details for transfer, and you can bring your own bottle (there's an off-licence a minute's walk away). Highchairs and buggy access make it easy for families, and reviewers note that staff add meat to dishes on request or bring complimentary jasmine tea.
