Café · Bethnal Green
Sam's Cafe in Bethnal Green is the kind of proper East End caff where the full English comes with free tea top-ups and the husband-and-wife team—Vural in the kitchen, Serpil front of house—are regulars' favourites. Generous portions at prices that haven't budged much (£16 gets two breakfasts plus drinks), plus highchairs and buggy-friendly space make it a reliable morning stop for local families. The omelettes earn repeat praise, and most locals swear by the set breakfasts, especially Set 1 with extra black pudding or Set 3 if you're properly hungry. "Staff are polite and patient especially with children and less able people," one parent notes. There's outdoor seating when the sun's out and Turkish dishes alongside the traditional fry-ups. Toilets are upstairs, so worth noting if you've got very little ones. Best for Saturday mornings when you want to eat like a local without the café-bar markup.
