About Shu La La
Shu La La on Holloway Road brings proper charcoal-grilled barbecue and Sichuan heat to North London, with real flames and a lively crowd that includes families and student groups. The kitchen excels at smoky lamb skewers — cumin-heavy, generously portioned, plus huge lamb chops with crispy edges, grilled capelin (smelt) packed with roe, and spicy pork belly slices with that charred, blackened bite. Beyond the grill, regulars come back for beef brisket hotpot, aubergine and green beans done home-style, and the garlic grilled fish that "we kept spooning over rice." Highchairs and buggy space are available. The vibe is lively with friends sharing plates and cold beer.
